IT Project Manager - Tokyo

Key Job Responsibilities:
Project Management
• Lead and manage IT projects from initiation to delivery, ensuring alignment between business and technology teams.
• Oversee planning, execution, resource allocation, timeline management, and risk mitigation to drive successful project completion.
• Ensure clear communication between business and technical stakeholders regarding goals, deliverables, and priorities.
• Provide regular status updates and proactively address risks and issues.
Requirements Management & Business Analysis
• Drive requirement-gathering sessions, ensuring a clear understanding of business needs and priorities.
• Collaborate with business teams in Japan to document and translate requirements into actionable technical specifications.
• Work closely with data engineering teams to ensure alignment of technical solutions with business objectives.
• Conduct workshops and stakeholder discussions to refine requirements and facilitate mutual understanding.
Technical & Analytical Responsibilities
• Posses a strong understanding of data engineering concepts, including databases, ETL processes, and data warehousing tools.
• Support technical teams in integrating and managing structured and unstructured datasets, including PDFs and raw text.
• Leverage Databricks for data engineering, analytics, and machine learning workflows.
• Ensure compliance with Japan’s pharmaceutical data regulations and best practices for data governance.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
Stakeholder & Delivery Management
• Act as the key liaison between technical and business teams, ensuring alignment on goals and deliverables.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in Japan, understanding their requirements and business objectives.
• Work effectively within the Japanese business culture, facilitating collaboration between Japan-based and global teams in India and the US.
• Drive Agile project execution, including sprint planning, backlog grooming and retrospectives.
• Ensure smooth coordination with internal delivery teams, proactively resolving project bottlenecks.
Process Improvement & Governance
• Identify and implement scalable process improvements to enhance the efficiency and future readiness of client ecosystems.
• Support Agile project execution by ensuring best practices in project planning, execution, and retrospectives.
• Contribute to the adoption of data cataloging, data quality management, and governance frameworks.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• 3+ years in IT Project Management or Senior BA/PM roles, with 8+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry (preferred).
• Project Management: Expertise in planning, execution, status reporting and risk management. Experience in Agile, Waterfall or Hybrid project methodologies.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of data engineering technologies, including ETL, data warehousing and system integrations. Hands-on experience with Informatica IDMC and Databricks is a plus.
• Pharma Data Expertise: Experience handling datasets like IQVIA, Veeva CRM, patient claims or sales data.
• Stakeholder & Cultural Management: Ability to work effectively with Japanese business stakeholders and global teams in India and the US.
• Language Skills: Proficiency in both Japanese and English is a must.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Skills
• Certifications: Scrum Master, PMP, or similar project management certifications.
