Finance Manager NGO - (East Africa)

Reporting to the Director of Conservation Programs, the Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing financial management, budgeting, reporting, and compliance for the organisation. The role will ensure the effective management of financial resources, adherence to financial policies, and strategic planning to support the organization's conservation efforts.
Here’s an overview of the areas where your talents will make an impact:
Financial Planning & Budgeting:
- Develop and manage the organization's financial plans and budgets.
- Monitor expenditures and ensure budgetary control.
- Provide financial forecasts and risk assessments.
Accounting & Financial Reporting:
- Oversee daily financial transactions and bookkeeping.
- Prepare accurate financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure adherence to Kenyan tax laws, financial regulations, and donor requirements.
- Conduct internal audits and support external audit processes.
- Implement internal financial controls to prevent fraud and mismanagement.
Grants & Fund Management:
- Monitor grant budgets and ensure proper utilization of donor funds.
- Prepare financial reports for donors and funding agencies.
- Coordinate with program teams to ensure financial sustainability.
Payroll & Human Resource Finance Support:
- Manage payroll processing, statutory deductions, and employee benefits.
- Ensure timely disbursement of salaries and compliance with labor laws.
- Maintain accurate financial records of human capital expenditures.
We’ve highlighted below the essential experience and training required to ensure success:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or ACCA qualification is required.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in financial management, preferably at an NGO or conservation organization.
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax laws, IFRS, and financial best practices.
- Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
