We are hiring a Junior Accountant cum GM Assistant based in Monterrey, Mexico for a local foreign-investment support services firm deeply embedded in Mexico's manufacturing, import/export, and bonded trade compliance sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Core Accounting & Tax Functions Handle full-cycle bookkeeping for client companies, monthly and annual tax filings, basic tax compliance, and straightforward tax planning. Familiarity with import/export operations of manufacturing enterprises; support bonded material reconciliation and tax risk self-assessments to ensure compliance.
2. Senior Assistant to the General Manager Support the GM in coordinating end-to-end foreign investment landing projects in Mexico, including industrial site research, company certification preparation, IMMEX/PROSEC bonded regime liaison, and preliminary investment plan organization.
3. Government Liaison Serve as the primary point of contact with Mexican government authorities; handle company registration and amendments, tax filings, social security (IMSS), housing fund (INFONAVIT) registrations, document submissions, and ongoing follow-up.
4. Administrative Coordination Organize business and compliance documentation, track project progress, relay information between domestic and overseas clients and headquarters, and complete other coordination and support tasks assigned by the GM.
5. Temporary Legal Representative When required by client investment landing needs, serve as the client company's temporary legal representative in a compliant capacity, assisting with company establishment, certification processing, and compliance registrations. Once the client's investment project is fully operational, the temporary legal representative status will be revoked immediately — no long-term liability or risk.
Requirements:
1. Experience: Minimum 2 years of work experience at manufacturing companies in Mexico, with solid knowledge of import/export customs procedures and foreign trade tax compliance. Hands-on experience with IMMEX/PROSEC companies is a plus.
2. Qualifications: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Mexican Contador Público (CPA) certification preferred. Solid understanding of IVA and ISR tax filing rules and basic bonded trade compliance requirements.
3. Languages: Native or fluent Spanish; fluent spoken English — must be able to independently liaise with foreign clients, overseas headquarters, and cross-border matters.
4. Technical Skills: Proficient in Excel, Mexican electronic invoicing (CFDI), and basic accounting systems. Familiarity with the Anexo 24 bonded inventory system and basic Pedimento (customs declaration) verification processes.
5. General Competencies: Knowledge of Mexican company registration, social security, and government liaison procedures. Strong cross-functional coordination skills, ability to work under pressure, high compliance awareness, meticulous and detail-oriented. Prior experience serving foreign-invested enterprises is a plus.
