About the Opportunity
A practice with a significant Indigenous law group is seeking a lawyer to support Indigenous governments and organizations on governance, self-government, and institution-building matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise Indigenous governments and organizations on governance structures and self-government arrangements

• Draft constitutions, laws, policies, and governance agreements

• Support negotiations related to self-government and jurisdictional matters

• Build long-term relationships with Indigenous community clients

• Collaborate with colleagues across related practice areas (lands, resources, agreements)

Qualifications

• Called to the Bar in Ontario or British Columbia, in good standing

• Experience in Indigenous law, governance, or a closely related field

• Genuine interest in and sensitivity to working with Indigenous communities

• Strong drafting and negotiation skills

• Willingness to travel to community meetings as required
